  1. I just received my Harmony and I blew up a copy of the 30 day guide. I love to X stuff out. :-) I just finished Cardio Move It/Program 1. I'm glad the step portion was in there and I really liked the cues on how to hold the band during the cardio. Man, I could really feel my back working when I pulled back on the band! So cool.

Is anyone else doing the 30 day rotation in the guidebook?

  3. I did Day 2 of the Guide today. It was a sculpting workout. It reminded me of the other powerfit, disc 1, but there are definately new moves. I like the music as well. I seriously bummed tomorrow is a rest day! HA! I guess I will take my little boy for a walk in the stroller and get some sunshine.

Oh - I love the new bands! I didn't realize how much my old purple band had lost tension until I used the purple one today. I'm thinking of keeping the green band near me for exercises when I need more "umph." The bands are way easier to interchange than weights!

  5. Hey Alice, you can use the step on the band part, too. That bumps things up as well.

Alice, I don't do most of them totally low impact. I add some hops, plyos, etc. I also use a step or bosu sometimes for the band portion. I love making PF my own.

  8. OK - I did the Core Body Balance yesterday. It was a lot of ab/lower back work and very gentle. Something tells me that today's workout is going to more intense. I think it's a strong pull or something like that. I'm loving using the guide!!!!

  9. OH I did Strong Pull today! I love, love it! I was even able to use the green band for some of it. I loved all of the dips!

  11. I just finished Day, Disc 5/Cardio Power Up.
The first part was very gentle, low-impact aerobics without the band. I finally got out my step and did some of the step knees on sambas on that to work a little harder.

The next cardio section was using the band on the floor as a step. It was a pretty long and a little more detailed "step" workout than the one in the original powerfit.

She did not use any of the band in the cardio for this workout, other than on the floor as a step.

Tomorrow (Day 8) is a rest day. I'm surprised at how many rest days there are.

  12. Day 9 Disc 6/Core-Pure Power

I found this workout was most similar to Disc 5 of the first Powerfit.
It was a nice gentle stretching workout when muscles can be tight in the morning. My heart rate didn't really move and I guess my core is pretty strong because it was more like a stretching to me. The band was hardly used for this one. However, like all of the Powerfit DVD's - it left me energized so the baby and I went for a walk outside in the stroller afterwards.

Tomorrow is Lower Body Blast. Oh I can't wait! So far my favorites are Disc 4 Strong Pull and Disc 2 - Strong Push

  13. Well to add on about CORE-PURE POWER (Disc 6), my core was a bit sore today so there was some work down as well as just good stretching and that is always needed, especially as we get older.

This morning was SCULPT-LOWER BODY BLAST (disc 7). Oh. My. Sakes.
This was the most challenging so far. Because it's mostly standing lower body (with my green band thank you very much) my heart rate was up and I was burnin'!

OK - I'm stepping on my soapbox:
I am starting to see the balance. Workouts should not always be defined as "easy." Sometimes "easy" is necessary. What I mean is - stretching moves may be "easy" but they are also EXTREMELY good for you. Both of my siblings have back problems and they HATE to move. My sister goes to physical therapy and she describes some of the lower back strengthening moves. Well, it's some of the same moves as in PowerFit. Now some might say that's an easy workout because perhaps your heart rate doesn't go up. But, listening to my sister say how HARD they are and how much they wear her out (she hates them), I realize I must not take for granted that strength and flexibility are VITAL to balanced living. So is good nutrition. My brother just had major back surgery and I was telling him he should eat well to help his body heal (He is ordering take-out in the hospital, Burger King, Pizza Hut, yadah yadah). He said the Dr. is giving him vitamins! I was like - YES! I know I'm not crazy!

Without a doubt my favorite Powerfit discs are the barn burners. However, I'm not naive. I know that ALL of them are good for me.

    OK, I'm stepping off soapbox.

  14. SPEED BURN

Speed burn was all low-impact aerobics. The first part was like the other cardio DVD, Cardio Power-up. Then the middle section used the band and had the football runs and squats - a bit more intense. Then, there was the "step" with the band at the end. Honestly, I hate cardio DVD's, LOL, in most all shapes and forms so I'm trying to be objective. It got my heart rate up and was only 20 minutes. :-)

  15. Disc 9 - SCULPT UPPER BODY BLAST
LOVED IT! I haven't done a sculpting DVD from Harmony that I didn't like. The band use in this one is fantastic! She does upper body, then a little cardio interval. It reminds me a little of the Firm Arms DVD she did years ago, just not so intense, thank goodness!

  16. Disc 10 - Core - express core

This was a very stretchy DVD> The first part was standing core and the second was more intense floorwork for abs. The band was only used for the standing core.

This is my final "new" Harmony video as the next half of the month used the 10 again, but in a different order.

I really like the rotation where you do your own cardio and use Powerfit for sculpting and core. I think I will try that one next!

  17. Whew! I just finished LOWER BODY BLAST - I think it's DVD #7. Tough with that green band!

Even though I'm cycling through them again during the second phase of the 30 day guide, each workout feels so new not only to my brain but to my body as well.

I have one more workout in my 30 day and I can really see changes in my body. I see changes in my core - I am more curvy and my legs - more toned and tight. Overall, it's my shape that has changed - it's just more hourglass! I'm sure it's all that great core work!

I just ordered Powerfit Plus. My next rotation is going to be from her blog - the one that uses all three sets of DVD's, 4 days on and 4 days off with one workout a day.
